To date, Churly is the sickest rescue Peru Pasos has taken on. Inspite of his multiple ailments, e.g. absessed hooves, tick infestation and a tumor in his nasal cavity he is receiving treatment for, Churlys quirky social attitude and endless curiosity makes him a fast favorite and often because of his traumatic past participants can easily identify with this one of a kind equine.

Edelweiss (ay duhl vise) is the heart of Peru Pasos, his rescue is where it all began. God had already said He was going to bring horses, so even though Edelweiss was skin and bones the day we loaded him on the boat to bring home, we couldnt contain our exceeding joy. Today he is considered a "BIG" horse by jungle standards standing at just 13h tall and is the only rideable horse for our teens and young adult participants. His story of perserverance shatters the strongholds of darkness and inspires even the most desperate souls to dare to hope.

True to the story Black Beauty, Merrylegs is our clever small plucky pony. Standing at only 9h tall, his diminutive stature invites the smallest of participants to pluck up their courage and trust in an animal 2xs their own size. He is old, wise, calm, steadfast and a natural leader. Merrylegs seems to lend our participants these characteristics just by having shared in his presence.
