About Peru Pasos
Peru Pasos is a faith based non-profit ministry. Our mission is to empower todays youth to overcome yesterdays trauma through rescued horses and the redeeming love of Jesus Christ. We are located in the city of Iquitos, Peru hidden deep in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest and serve its children, youth and young adults who have endured trauma or neglect . Our ranch provides a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can connect with horses and godly mentors to embark on a journey of healing, hope and restoration.
Our Approach
At Peru Pasos, we believe God's love has the power to heal broken hearts and transform lives and His magnificent creation, the horse serves as a unique bridge to reach those hearts so young individuals can overcome trauma, build resilience, and develop life skills. This approach of integrating equine assisted learning (EAL) with personalized godly mentorship cultivates a holistic healing experience.
Our Story
Peru Pasos beginning was nothing short of a miracle, where God completely out of the blue gifted the founder, Nicole Finehout, a 32 acre ranch in the Amazon jungle that had sat abandoned for 30+ years. At the time she had no clue what to do with this major fixer upper. A year later God whispered to her in her quiet time He was going to give her her childhood dream of having horses, after which she dared to ask God if He had bigger plans than just giving her horses, to which He replied, "Yes. I want you to help my children who have been abandoned and abused." Two months later God brought home our 2 first rescue ponies via large canoe. This is our story of how God ushered in His vision of providing a sanctuary where young people can find healing and restoration through their interactions with horses and enter into a relationship with their Savior, Jesus Christ.
